Young people find their footing at the Malaika Community Center. Here is Divina’s story.

In 2023, 17 young women became Malaika School’s first graduates. Three years later, Amida, Audience, Deborah and Jolie have already completed university.

Feliciane competed in the First Lego League, an international robotics competition that rewards creative problem-solving.

In Kalebuka, a region where access to clean water remains a daily challenge, Malaika is transforming lives – especially those of women and girls – by building a network of water wells in underserved neighborhoods. So much more than a source of hydration; they are a foundation for health, education, and female empowerment.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our brilliant teacher Therese Mabaka has been selected as one of the top 50 finalists of the Global Teacher Prize 2023!

We believe that every single person possesses a special gift that they can pass on to others, and therefore keep our doors wide open for those who want to do so!

The Community Center has truly made a difference in our life, and I believe it will continue to shape our future in ways we couldn’t have imagined before.

Meet three Malaika graduates as they reflect on their journey from age 5 to graduation and share their hopes for the future.
